The sun is hiding, its getting colder & colder…. fall season has arrived! Our Newport girls got inspired by this season’s and they created a Fall Window in our Fashion Island store. We loved it so much that we have to share a step by step on how to make it for your home! This is a really simple DIY that is best done sitting around a fire & with a pumpkin latte in hand! Get creative & have fun!
Supplies:
– Scissors
– Fishing line
– (3) Different Orange Patterned Fabric
– Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
– Wood Sticks
– Fake Fall Leaves
– Gold Metallic Spray Paint
– Fabric Stiffener
– Sheer Fabric or Curtains
– Curtain Rod
STEP 1:
Spray paint false leaves with gold metallic spray paint, let dry for 15 mins and then begin gluing leaves to fishing line (the length of string can be decided by length of window). Make around 15 strands for a fuller look.
STEP 2:
Cut out an estimated 100 leaves in (3) different patterned fabrics, once you’re done with that spray each fabric piece with fabric stiffener. Use this stencil link http://ow.ly/qKsFE
Once the fabric is hardened, you can begin gluing the matching shaped leaves together (making sure the fishing line is in between so they have a front and back fabric.
STEP 3:
Glue sticks down fishing line leaving space for the illusion of the sticks falling from the ceiling. Once that is finished glue a second stick on top of the one stick to give a layered look to the garland. Make around 15 strands for a fuller look.
STEP 4:
Begin hanging one end of fabric & spray painted leaf & stick strands the to the farthest left end of the rod of your curtain to the farthest right end of the rod making a scalloped look, next to that string begin hanging the other strands in front of the last strand.
What’s great about this leaf curtain is that you can use it as part as your curtain decor or even as a garland, that way you can customize it to fit over in your living room, bed room, as a garland on your fireplace, above a window, across a wall – whatever you’d like. Get creative with what you attach to yours and make a point to feel yourself relax as you put it together. HAPPY FALL!
