Cute & Quick DIY Table Decor!

We loved this quick and easy DIY Beachy chic table setup by Karine from Be Kind and Smile Often. Its a great way to mermaid-up your Thanksgiving tables!

➵ Putting together a pretty table setting to entertain your family and friends can be very simple and doesn’t have to cost a fortune. I often pull items from my bookshelves or my craft containers and use them for the evening. For this table setting I wanted a beachy, seaside feel. It literally took 5 minutes to put it all together! It’s all about cohesion and layering.

Items Used:

Burlap
Curly Willow
Palm Leaf
Starfish
Coral
Vase
Shells
Twine
Oranges and Basilweddings-by-willy-and-meghan-rustic-beach-thanksgiving-table-1

I cut the burlap table runner into a length that was slightly longer then my table. Don”t worry about cutting it too straight. I then pulled a few strings on each end to give it a little fringe. I then laid the curly willow branches down the middle of the runner. I propped starfish in between the branches and scattered shells along the runner. It’s fun to just play with it a little to get a look that you like. I pulled a small vase off my shelf and cut a palm leaf from a tree in my yard. You could use any greenery that you have around. Then came the place mats, plates and napkins. I simply tied the napkins with twine and placed a sand dollar on top of them. It can be a fun favor for your guests to take home. To fancy up the water I added orange slices and fresh basil. It’s such a refreshing and delicious addition to a plain glass of water.  You could also add some simple tea lights to add a little mood lighting to your table.

DIY Fall Window

The sun is hiding, its getting colder & colder…. fall season has arrived! Our Newport girls got inspired by this season’s and they created a Fall Window in our Fashion Island store. We loved it so much that we have to share a step by step on how to make it for your home! This is a really simple DIY that is best done sitting around a fire & with a pumpkin latte in hand! Get creative & have fun!

Supplies:

– Scissors

– Wood Sticks

– Fake Fall Leaves

– Fabric Stiffener

STEP 1:

Spray paint false leaves with gold metallic spray paint, let dry for 15 mins and then begin gluing leaves to fishing line (the length of string can be decided by length of window). Make around 15 strands for a fuller look.

STEP 2:

Cut out an estimated 100 leaves in (3) different patterned fabrics, once you’re done with that spray each fabric piece with fabric stiffener. Use this stencil link http://ow.ly/qKsFE

Once the fabric is hardened, you can begin gluing the matching shaped leaves together (making sure the fishing line is in between so they have a front and back fabric.

STEP 3:

Glue sticks down fishing line leaving space for the illusion of the sticks falling from the ceiling. Once that is finished glue a second stick on top of the one stick to give a layered look to the garland. Make around 15 strands for a fuller look.

STEP 4:

Begin hanging one end of fabric & spray painted leaf & stick strands the to the farthest left end of the rod of your curtain to the farthest right end of the rod making a scalloped look, next to that string begin hanging the other strands in front of the last strand.

What’s great about this leaf curtain is that you can use it as part as your curtain decor or even as a garland, that way you can customize it to fit over in your living room, bed room, as a garland on your fireplace, above a window, across a wall – whatever you’d like. Get creative with what you attach to yours and make a point to feel yourself relax as you put it together. HAPPY FALL!
